The Guyana Fire Service today conducted a March Past Parade in celebration of our 65th Anniversary and Fire Prevention Month 2022.
The parade which consisted of about two hundred (200) ranks from fire stations across the country was led by Divisional Officer, Andrew Holder and his Second-in-command, Station Officer, Suresh Persaud.
The grey and black contingent was led by Station Officer, Clayton Pantlitz followed by the female contingent which was led by Station Officer (ag) Dianne Gill.
The fatigue contingent was led by Station Officer, Relton Johnson, the Emergency Medical Services contingent was led by Station Officer, Azumah Roberts and the fire kit contingent was led by Cadet Officer, Javid Mohamed followed by appliances of the GFS including water tenders, bowsers, ambulances and support vehicles.
The assembly point of the parade was Square of the Revolution following which ranks marched down Brickdam Street past the Ministry of Home Affairs where the Home Affairs Minister, Hon. Robeson Benn, Permanent Secretary, Mae Toussaint Jr. Thomas and Chief Fire Officer (ag), Gregory Wickham received the ‘Eyes Right Salute’. The parade continued to the Central Fire Station where it was concluded.
As part of the anniversary celebration off-duty ranks were allowed a stand down day to socialize, while breakfast and lunch was catered for all ranks and distributed to stations across the country.
