Chief Fire Officer (ag), Gregory Wickham and a team of officers today visited Meadowbrook Gardens, Georgetown to inspect fire hydrants in the area and ensure that they are in perfect working condition.
During the inspection firefighters cleaned the area around the hydrants after which they were turned on and the water pressure was tested.
Once it was determined that the hydrants were fully functional they were painted bright red so as to be more noticeable to citizens and firefighters in the event of a fire.
The Guyana Fire Service will continue to install and repair fire hydrants across the country in efforts to better serve citizens and fulfill our mandate.
Citizens are asked to avoid blocking fire hydrants and to report any act of vandalism to the police or nearest fire station.
